Edged Weapons
Navy Boarding Pike Spear

This is another in my growing inventory of seldom seen relics. This is a spear point from a Navy boarding pike and a wicked weapon it was! The point and iron shaft measures 18" long and 1 5/8" wide at ot its widest point. The spear itself is four-sided and the shaft attached via six holes punched through the iron. The forging was rather crude but it was thick and substantially made. Harking back to an earlier age this weapon was fearsome to behold when mounted on a sturdy pole.

Unmarked CS Cavalry Sabre (Haiman)

Here is another nice Confederate made cavalry sabre. This one bears the characteristics of a Haiman & Brother, Columbus, Georgia, product. It boasts typical Southern war-time production shortcuts--lapped over seam on the metal scabbard, brass mounts, unstopped fuller, rough casting and finishing, single strand grip wire, etc. At some time the leather bumper was replaced and the scabbard throat appears re-soldered but these are minor "improvements" performed long ago.

1830s Eagehead Sword

Nice example of an 1830s era Eaglehead sword and scabbard. Overall condition is very good for this classic American militia era sword. Made by a Solingen firm this sword exhibits the classic aspects of the eagleheads. The only flaw is the scabbard drag which is loose.
